The unspecified security issue that diverted an American Airlines flight destined for Phoenix to St. Louis on Thursday morning was unfounded, an airline official said.

Flight 534 from Columbus, Ohio, made an unscheduled landing at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport around 8 a.m. local time, officials said.

“The incident was deemed non-credible by law enforcement,” according to an official statement from the airline. “American plans to continue flight 534 to Phoenix shortly.”
